T Raumschmiere, Blitzkrieg Pop (Mute)

T Raumshmiere.jpg

The monstertruckdriver is back! Taking his name from a Philip K Dick invention (traumschmiere is German for ‘the dream room’), for his second album German label boss (Shitkatapult) and ex-punk rocker Marco Haas flexes his techno production muscles, while quenching a thirst for more metallic flavours, alongside that stomping 6/8 timed ‘shufflebeat’ which sounds like glam-rock, warm washes of ambient beauty and pop songs that soar like giant eagles. Raumschmiere grabs you rudely by the guts with his own voice, as well as enlisting some immaculately-tonsilled ladies, including Teutonic electro princess Ellen Allien (Bpitch Control), to finish the job off. And, with the current success of British electro-glam misstress Goldfrapp, all this bodes very well indeed. But, more importantly, it also sounds fantastically fresh.
