Super 12” Disco DJ Dimitri brings us another compilation, unleashing a sea of unheard and rare music on his fan’s sophisticated ears.

It took a little while for me to squeeze this into the CD player.  The idea of Cocktail Disco was not one I found to be inviting.  It appeared to be about as far away from hard to find or exciting new music as possible!  Thankfully this isn’t a soundtrack for the ruling classes, it’s a soundtrack for moving asses!

The collection of songs is far from lightweight. Dimitri drops a large selection of vintage soulful dance and Latin influenced music from his vinyl vaults.  The double CD weighs in at 22 tracks and well over 2 hours of music.  Some of these sound like they have been re-mastered from the original wax, so don’t be surprised to hear a few crackles, it’s all part of the experience.  This is another must buy album from BBE, a record label that has brought us future classics from artists such as Roy Ayers and J Dilla, as well as compilations from Masters at Work and Jazzy Jeff.
