Now leaving the rushed and hideous end of the 'Head Kandi House' spectrum at the door, the UK is rediscovering its passion for disco music.
This compilation kicks off with some laid back disco and over its course jacks things up to a nice house tempo before ending on a really blissed out note. You can feel the influence of funk, soul and electronic music mixed up to create a decidedly Balearic mix. Emulating a genuine DJ set, the CD pulls no punches at the beginning, but as we pass the 10 minute mark, the stand out tunes start to fly. This is all pretty up front and not many fillers are included at all. Many musical bases are covered; from slinky, synth-laden grooves, throbbing acidy squelches through to storming piano driven hands-in-the-air fly catchers.
Sean Brosnan is clearly a man who knows how to put together a good compilation. Alongside a few hype underground names, lot of the most popular names of the modern disco scene are included here. Faze Action, Crazy P, Juan Maclean, Friendly Fires, Greg Wilson, Todd Terje, Prins Thomas and The Revenge all get a look in. The latter hails from Fife, lives in Glasgow and is producing some very deep and hypnotic music right now.
Pick this CD up when it is released on 12th October and you'll be a happy camper.
