This album sits in the territory reserved by folk and electronica (sometimes) greats such as Ultramarine and modern favourite Four Tet. The Psapp ensemble keep this company incredibly well, these songs have warmth and incredible depth. Imagine [Moloko vocalist] Roisin Murphy helping you clean out a junk-laden flat while [Aphex Twin] Richard James learns how to master the new stuttering Maplin sampler he glued together at the weekend Aside from amazing, blissed-out production and emotional songs such as Electricity In Pine Boxes, the group never lose their sense of humour; check the dog toy squeaks on Rear Moth, the creaking doors and cat squeals on About Fun and the farmyard animals on the title track. The brilliant contrast of unusual sounds chopped-up and pasted into disjointed rhythms next to eerie glockenspiel and lush strings underpins the whole album, typifying its appeal. I'm bang into this. If you like electronic folk with a touch of soul, go buy.
