It's now time for the well-established and highly respected hip-hop production duo, The Nextmen to add their style to the pile. With two studio albums under their belts, the men from West London have unleashed onto the public, a mix CD unlike many others, as they freestyle on wax through a selection of hip hop bombs (J-Live, Jay-Z, Dead Prez), rare grooves (George Mcrae, KC & The Sunshine Band) and lawyer dodging, under the counter rarities (Big Daddy Kane vs. Lemar, Erykah Badu vs. Quincy Jones). Sprinkled on top of this motley crew of beats and rhymes are a series of vocal overdubs lifted from old golfing videos offering advice on everything from bunker shots to replacing divots… what more could you possibly ask for in a mix CD I hear you cry? Apart from such obvious strengths as tips on selecting the right wood for that drive down the 15th, Personal Golf Instructions really grabs the upper hand over others in this highly competitive field. It insists that your feet stay firmly nailed to the dance floor or nearest available shiny surface whilst avoiding the pitfalls of DJ Yoda's turntablism tomfoolery. Such antics seem more likely to gain Yoda a slot at the Assembly Rooms during the Edinburgh Festival in mid-August than create an attitude of reckless abandon on the dance floor.
